Each contestant is assigned into at least one of four different categories. The group acts are just one category and others are primarily based on gender or age. As an example, in the past three the categories are boys, girls, groups, and over-25-year-olds. Each judge is assigned to one of the categories,and acts as mentor to the contestants in their category, helping to decide song choices, styling, while also contestants from one other types after each and staging of their live performances. They compete together to use to get one of the contestants within their category to gain your contest, thus making them the estimate that is winning.
