The film examines how African spirituality has influenced popular culture in the United States. Since their landing on the coasts of North America, the ancient African gods have taken on new guises. Turntable magic, improvisational skills, and mind-blowing collages and rituals are now a manifestation of their spirit. Disrupts preconceived notions of what race, religion, and sanity are all about. Documentary filmmakers met with musicians as well as writers and artists in the field to get a sense of the richness and energy of a culture that has always drew on an eclectic mix of ethnic influences to develop its distinctive cultural diversity and attractiveness.
