Distant Voices, Still Lives
The 2nd film in Terence Davies's autobiographical series (along side"Trilogy" and"The Long Day Closes") can be a impressionistic perspective of a working-class family in 1940s and 1950s Liverpool, dependent on Davies's family. Throughout a series of tableaux Davies creates a deeply affecting photo album of a distressed family wrestling with the complexity of love.
