The Colbert Report is a American satirical late night television program that airs Monday through Thursday on Comedy Central. It celebrities humorist Stephen Colbert, a former correspondent for The Daily Show. The Colbert Report is actually a spin-off from and counterpart into The Daily Show that opinions on social media and politics in a way that is similar. It satirizes conservative personality-driven political pundit programs, specially Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor. The series focuses on a anchorman character called Stephen Colbert, played by his real-life namesake. The personality, clarified by Colbert as a"well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot", is just really a caricature of televised political pundits.
The Colbert Report has been nominated for seven prime time Emmy Awards each in 2 Television Critics Association awards Awards, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, 2006, along with two Satellite awards. In 2013, it got two Emmys. It has been presented as non-satirical journalism in a lot of instances, including by the Tom DeLay Legal Defense Trust and by Robert Wexler following his interview to the app. The Report received considerable media coverage after its debut in October 17, 2005, for Colbert's coining of the term"truthiness", which dictionary publisher merriam webster called its 2006 Word of the season.
