In a post-apocalyptic world controlled by the so-called "Numbers," each human will have their identity branded with their very own "Matter," which can define any number associated with their life. May it be one's strolled distance or quantity of compliments offered to them by others, this Matter could lead them to the abyss when it has gone down to zero. In the year 305 of the Alcian schedule, Hina has inherited a goal from her Mother, whose Count has decreased to zero, to search for the Legendary Red Baron. In her journey, she satisfies a half-masked swordsman called Licht that tries to conceal his identification, as he is referred to as a degenerate for having an exceptionally reduced Count.
