Correspondences

In the end, Jorge de Sena had to flee his homeland. He first settled in Brazil before making the journey to the United States. He was never seen again in Portugal. Over the course of his two decades of exile, he maintained a letter-writing exchange with Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. These letters, written out of a desire to "replace years of distance with hours of discourse," show how close the two poets were. An open dialogue is developed, displaying their differing views but most importantly their close friendship and the efforts they make to keep it alive till the end.
